International Cooperation Department
The division for international relations of KazNPU named after Abai was established in 1995 and in May, 2008 was restructured into the International Cooperation Department to provide more progressive international interaction. One of the main tasks of the department remains a consecutive development of bi-and-polylateral mutually advantageous international cooperation in the sphere of educational and scientific projects.
The functions of international cooperation department:
Investment in education through integration into international educational space is of top priority of Abai KazNPU`s international activity.
KazNPU`s International Cooperation Department took several actions aiming to widen the University`s international activities and strengthening its credibility on a global scale.
The Kazakh National Pedagogic University named after Abai is well-recognized high school and was the first Kazakh pedagogic university to sign Great Magna Charta Universitatum in Bologna, Italy, in 2007.
Cooperation with foreign universities covers various fields like teacher and students exchange, joint conferences, designing educational programs etc.
So far the KazNPU named after Abai signed cooperation agreements with 250 foreign universities in France, Ukraine, Great Britain, the USA, Belgium, Spain, Italy, the Russian Federation, Germany, the Peoples Republic of China, Lithuania, Korea etc. One of the most prestigious fields of international cooperation is Double-Degree Programs, which are an important channel of practical integration of Kazakh high schools into international educational space. The following foreign universities are involved in the said Program:
Teacher and student (both bachelor and master) exchange is also one of the most important fields of cooperation with partner universities. Thus, yearly 6 students and 1 lecturer from Han Xian University undertake one-year course at KazNPU named after Abai and the same number of our students and lecturers visit the said university every year. Also, two students from Philological Faculty went for six-month course to South Korea this year as it was envisaged in the exchange program with Kwan Dong University.
In 2008, when the master exchange program was launched, 58 people undertook training at M.Dragomanov National Pedagogic University (Ukraine), A.Pushkin Brest State University (Belarus), Mykolas Romeris University and Siauliai University (Lithuania). In 2009 this number reached 78 people.
Aiming for capacity building teaching staff of the University attend overseas conferences and symposia.
Cooperation with embassies and diplomatic missions:
Active cooperation in various fields has been established with embassies of Great Britain, Germany, France, Canada, India, China, Poland, Egypt, Hungary, Lithuania, Korea etc. Master classes, lectures and seminars are conducted with the assistance of foreign embassies and diplomatic missions.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), presenting in Kazakhstan since early 1990s, is one of the most important organizations that supports scientific research, student and teacher exchange and promotes world standards in Kazakhstan in the field of education and science.
