About the Faculty

In 1928, the university had only one faculty, which included two departments — Physics and Mathematics, and Linguistics and Pedagogy. In the 1930s, based on the Department of Linguistics, the Faculty of Philology was established, admitting 49 students. At its origins stood such outstanding figures of science, culture, and education as A. Baitursynov, K. Zhubanov, S. Seifullin, S. Amanzholov, M. Auezov, and others.

Today, the Faculty of Philology represents a synthesis of classical and modern education, harmoniously combining Kazakh and Russian philology, literary studies, and linguistics. To foster the scientific and creative potential of students, various research clubs operate within the faculty.
