Abai KazNPU on the International Scientific Stage

From September 3-6, 2025, the 55th Annual Congress of the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT 2025) was held in Glasgow, Scotland - the largest event bringing together researchers in education and practitioners of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) from around the world.

More than 40 countries participated in the congress, and we are proud that Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University became the sole representative of Central Asia, offering a regional perspective on behavioural health and evidence-based psychotherapeutic practices.

Our team included Professor Dr. Nadezhda Zhiyenbayeva, Professor Dr. Ulzharkyn Abdigapbarova, Professor Dr. Olga Tapalova, and PhD candidate in Clinical and Social Psychology Nurgul Suyundykova.

We presented two scientific papers:
1. ``Developing an Online Community of Educators and Students Based on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for the Prevention of Digital Behaviour among Kazakhstani University Students`` - creating online communities to assess and prevent students` digital behaviour, enhance their digital psychological literacy, and develop emotional self-regulation skills.

2. `The Role of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy in the Prevention and Intervention of Addictive Disorders in the Kazakhstani Population` - studying the effectiveness of CBT interventions and digital self-regulation tools (Gamban, BetBlocker) in reducing impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, and symptoms of gambling addiction.

The theme of the congress - `People Make Glasgow: Connections Drive Change` - deeply resonates with our research, as international and interdisciplinary connections are key drivers of progress in CBT science and practice.

Participation in EABCT 2025 offered our team not only the opportunity to present research findings but also to strengthen collaboration with leading global experts in behavioral health.
