The international scientific seminar "Abai Readings: History and Prospects of Culture of Kazakhstan in the Eurasian Space" is an annual event held at the Abai Kazakh Culture and Science Center at the Department of Neophilology at the Pomeranian University in Slupsk (Poland).

The center was established on May 23, 2019. Its main objective is to expand intercultural interaction between Poles and Kazakhstanis, as well as scientific cooperation: organizing seminars and other events.

The seminars have been held annually since the opening of the Center. They represent the first cycle of scientific events in Poland dedicated to Abai Kunanbayev and other representatives of Kazakh culture. Abai is an outstanding Kazakh poet, philosopher, composer and educator of the second half of the 19th century. He is also called the "father of Kazakh literature". His personality and work are comprehensively explored at the "Abai Readings".

The topics of the seminar are not limited to the study of Abai`s creative heritage. They also include various aspects of the multinational culture of Kazakhstan, its history, literature, music, and traditions. The cultural and ethnic diversity of multinational Kazakhstan and the interaction of different cultures are of great importance. The seminar welcomes discussions of current issues of culture and public life in the Republic of Kazakhstan, including the specifics of the modern literary process. One of the priority tasks of this seminar is to develop research into Abai`s work, as well as the history, literature, and broadly understood culture of Kazakhstan in Poland and neighboring countries. Another important task is to create a discussion platform for young scientists in the European scientific field.

We invite students, postgraduates, doctoral students and lecturers from Polish and foreign universities, as well as all those interested in the works of Abai Kunanbayev and the culture of Kazakhstan.

Travel and accommodation costs are borne by the participants themselves or the sending party. Each participant receives a personal certificate.

The application form for participation is in Appendix No. 1. Please note that students must provide details of their academic supervisor or curator (full name, academic degree, place of work, position).

The possibility of remote participation in the Seminar is limited, and acceptance or rejection of the application depends on the decision of the Organizing Committee, made on the basis of the relevance and scientific novelty of the proposed topic of the report.
