Head of the Project Office

Main functional responsibilities of the structural unit:

Implementation of paragraph 4.2. of the Abai University NJSC development strategy for 2022-2025. "Abai University - pedagogical research university":

- Promote research culture among staff;

- introduce a small seed grant program for the university`s teaching staff;

- ensure the successful functioning of the Scientific Advisory Board - a collegial body on the directions of development of scientific and (or) scientific-pedagogical activities;

- to create a system of internal quality control of grant applications from HEI scientists;

- control over the organisation and conduct of the Decade of Science;

- organisation of work on participation of faculty members in competitions and implementation of fundamental and applied research under grant financing of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other organisations; on competitions of scientific projects financed from the Company`s own funds;

- holding competitions for the positions of research professor and post-doctoral fellows;

- participation in scientific events of the University;

- coordinating the work of the Council of Young Researchers;

- development of interaction with scientific, educational and other organisations of the republic;

- development of international co-operation in the field of science and technology; strengthening of strategic partnership with pedagogical universities of near and far abroad.

Main job responsibilities:

- participation in the development of the University Development Strategy on the issues of transformation into a research university;

- ensuring timely and quality fulfilment of the work provided for by the Strategic Development Plan and current plans of the university, as well as on the assignments of the university management and the Department of Science;

- preparation of regulatory documentation governing the Company`s activities in the field of science;

- development of draft annual and prospective plans;

- Coordination of scientific work of educational institutes, work of scientific subdivisions;

- development of necessary methodological and normative documentation in the field of scientific projects implementation and standard control;

- organisation and control of preparation of annual reports on scientific research, information materials for the management, at the request of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NCSTE;

- ensuring timely submission of reports and acts of completed work to the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, state statistics bodies;

- Expert-analytical monitoring of scientific projects.

Travelling on business trips:

Higher social-humanitarian, legal, economic, technical, master`s degree

Required professional experience (duration, field, other)

At least 3 years of experience in a similar position

Professional competences:

- Drafting plans and preparing reports in the state and Russian languages;

- skills in developing internal regulatory documents;

- Organising and coordinating the work of scientific projects.

Personal competences and qualities:

Initiative, critical thinking, determination, communication skills, teamwork, negotiation and adaptability, balance between personal goals and practical activities, ICT literacy, responsibility.

Knowledge of languages, including the state language (list of languages the candidate should be proficient in)

Kazakh - fluently

Russian - fluently

English - at least level B2, Upper-Intermediate

Computer Skills:

Fluency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), use of digital technologies and Internet resources (ZOOM, Google Drive, etc.), work with websites.
