Students of Abai University saved family members from a burning house and were awarded

By the order of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Chingiz Arinov, for their selflessness in saving human lives, 20-year-old third-year student of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Ernar Turgyn, and 22-year-old fourth-year student of the same university, Nurasyl Alimtaev, were awarded the "For Courage in Fire" medals.

On March 2, 2025, at around 2:30 AM, the two heroes heard cries for help from a house located at: 28 Novgorodskaya Street, Zhetysusky District, Almaty city, and quickly alerted the emergency rescue service. Despite the thick smoke and the threat to their own lives, they entered the building and made several attempts to extinguish the fire before the firefighters arrived.

Thanks to their quick actions, a 64-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy, and a 6-year-old girl were saved.
