"Abai" Toguzkumalak Club Opens at KazNPU

On April 18, 2025, the "Abai" Toguzkumalak Club was officially opened at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The event was organized by the Department of Social and Youth Policy with the support of the Toguzkumalak Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The establishment of this club is a meaningful initiative aimed at widely promoting Toguzkumalak among students, developing logical thinking skills, and fostering interest in national sports. Furthermore, this initiative enhances the significance of the World Nomad Games held in our country in 2024 and paves the way for the further advancement of our national intellectual heritage.

The opening ceremony was attended by the university administration, President of the World Toguzkumalak Federation Alikhan Baimenov, heads of sectoral federations, representatives of local government bodies and the Maslikhat, members of public organizations, and students. In his speech, Alikhan Baimenov emphasized that Toguzkumalak is not just a game, but an integral part of our national heritage, highlighting the importance of launching such a club at Abai University.

It should be noted that Toguzkumalak, as an ancient national intellectual game of the Kazakh people, has been included in the program of the World Nomad Games and is being actively promoted on the international stage. This represents a significant step toward increasing global recognition of Kazakhstan`s spiritual and cultural treasures.

Established within the country`s first higher education institution, the "Abai" club provides an opportunity to develop national Toguzkumalak leagues at the student level, and also ensures accessibility to mentoring centers for school students. In the future, similar clubs are expected to open in other universities as well.

The "Abai" Toguzkumalak Club plans to regularly organize clubs, masterclasses, intramural and city tournaments. Notably, the club`s opening was aligned with city-level Toguzkumalak competitions held as part of the "Altyn Saka" national sports games organized by KazNPU.
