The Path to Knowledge: Students’ Visit to the National Library

On May 27, 2025, in accordance with the academic curriculum, an educational internship was conducted for second-year students of the following programs at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University: 6B01510-Chemistry, 6B01512-Chemistry-Biology, 6B01511-Chemistry in English, and 6B05301-Chemistry.

The internship supervisors were senior lecturers Karazhanova D.A., Orazbayeva M.A., Manapov N.T., and lecturers Bektas Zh.S., Yelemes D.M.

During the internship, students visited the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty. This library is the national and largest book repository in Kazakhstan. On the first floor, there is a subscription department and a conference hall. The second floor houses a catalog and a book collection for self-reading. A guided tour was organized for the second-year students.

During the tour, the students learned how to search for literature in the main and supplementary collections of the reading hall. They were also introduced to rare books and manuscripts, maps, audio recordings, and electronic publications. Information was presented on valuable books, internet resources, art exhibitions, and notable figures in science and culture.

This internship not only fostered students` love for books and increased their motivation to study, but also enhanced their professional knowledge and research skills. Moreover, it contributed to the effective use of information sources, the development of academic literacy, teamwork abilities, and the expansion of their spiritual and cultural outlook.
