New horizons of International cooperation: Abai University Lecturer at Chongqing Sichuan University of Foreign Languages (China)

Bakyt Smagulova, a lecturer at the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology at Abai University, went on a business trip to China. The visit took place in Chongqing at the invitation of Sichuan International Studies University (SISU).

The purpose of the working trip was to expand international cooperation in the field of education, strengthen academic ties and develop joint scientific initiatives.

As part of the visit, an international meeting was held with representatives from Kazakhstan, China, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia. The participants discussed key areas of cooperation: the development of education, cultural exchange, academic mobility, digital technologies, and the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process.

Of particular interest was the Chinese Government Scholarship programme (2025-2026), which provides full funding for master`s and doctoral studies, including tuition, accommodation, medical insurance and a monthly stipend.

A separate item on the trip was a meeting between B.A. Smagulova and Ms. Shao Nansi, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Russian Language at Sichuan University of Foreign Languages. They discussed promising areas of cooperation between the universities: development of joint educational programmes, academic mobility of teachers and students, conducting joint scientific research, implementation of double degree programmes.

The visit was an important step towards strengthening regional partnerships, promoting language and cultural exchange, and integrating educational initiatives within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the RCEP agreement.
