«Summer school-2025: lecture «Creative industries and art education»

As part of the “Summer School – 2025”, organized by Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, a lecture was delivered on the topic: “Creative Industries and Art Education: From Design Thinking to Educational Transformation.” The lecture was delivered by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Karim Baigutov.

The lecture focused on contemporary approaches to teaching art, particularly the development of critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration through the Design Thinking methodology. Special attention was given to the role of creative industries in modernizing the education system and integrating traditional and digital artistic practices.

The content of the lecture is directly related to the implementation of the scientific project IRN AP25796905 titled: “Modification of Kazakh mythology and engraving in art education with the application of Design Thinking” This project is supported within the framework of the “Zhas Galym” grant program for funding young researchers for 2025–2027.

The aim of the project is to develop innovative methods of art education that combine elements of Kazakh visual and mythological heritage — specifically Kazakh mythology and printmaking (including woodcut, linocut, etching, and other techniques) — with modern practices of design thinking.
