«Spartakiada 2025» Held Among Faculty and Staff of Abai University

On January 25, 2025, the Department of Social and Youth Policy organized the “Spartakiada 2025” sports event for the faculty and staff of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The opening ceremony was attended by the university’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Banu Mukatayevna Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Social Development, Maksat Donesovich Zhakauov, and the Chairman of the University’s Employee Union, Mukhtar Botabayevich Ibraimov.

The competitions, organized to promote a healthy lifestyle, increase physical activity, and strengthen team relations among the university’s faculty, specialists, and staff during their leisure time, included four sports: tug-of-war, chess, table tennis, and volleyball.

Teams from the faculties of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Pedagogy and Psychology, Philology, Natural Sciences and Geography, Arts, History and Law, Physical Culture and Initial Military Training, as well as a team from the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute and a team from the Rectorate (comprising university administration staff) participated in the Spartakiada. All teams demonstrated a high level of play. Following a hard-fought competition, the Rectorate team, consisting of university administration staff, took first place, the team from the Faculty of Physical Culture and Initial Military Training secured second place, and the team from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics finished in third place.

Furthermore, teams from the Faculties of Arts, Philology, Natural Sciences and Geography, and Pedagogy and Psychology, who actively participated in the competitions and demonstrated a high level of skill, were awarded letters of gratitude, diplomas, and cash prizes from the Chairman of the Board-Rector. In closing the event, the university’s Vice-Rector for Social Development, Maksat Donesovich Zhakauov, expressed gratitude to the employee union of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University for their support and sponsorship in organizing the “Spartakiada – 2025” sports event.

He also sincerely congratulated all participating teams and the winners, expressing hope that such sports events will not only strengthen the unity of the collective but also become one of the university’s traditions. Embrace a healthy lifestyle and achieve victories together!
