Literary Evening "The Fiery Poet of Turbulent Years"

On February 12, 2025, the Department of Social Work and Youth Policy of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Creativity and the staff of Library No. 32 in Almaty, organized a literary evening titled The Fiery Poet of Turbulent Years to commemorate the 220th anniversary of Makhambet Otemisuly s birth. The event aimed to widely promote Makhambet Otemisuly s contribution to Kazakh literature, his role in the national liberation movement, as well as his heroism and poetic mastery. The literary evening was attended by researchers dedicated to studying the legacy and bravery of Makhambet Otemisuly.

Among them were Nurdaulet Akish, a leading researcher at the M. O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art and a writer, as well as Meiramgul Orasheva, a laureate of the Makhambet Jyrshy (bard) competition. The event featured powerful readings of Makhambet s poetry, showcasing his resilience and courage, along with an exhibition highlighting his heroism and bravery. The primary goal of this evening was to preserve the name of Makhambet Otemisuly for future generations and to honor his invaluable contribution to the golden heritage of Kazakh literature.
