The 3rd Republican Student Theater Competition Concluded

On March 3, 2025, the 3rd Republican Student Theater Competition "Student and Stage" was held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University as part of the "Year of Working People". The competition aimed to develop student creativity and engage young people with national and spiritual values. Approximately 20 student theaters participated, and following a selection round, theater groups from higher education institutions in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Semey, and Kyzylorda advanced to the finals. The Republican competition took place at the Baiten Omarov "Zhas Sakhna" Theater.

The jury consisted of: Tolganbay Zhalgas, actor of the M. Auezov Kazakh National Academic Drama Theater, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Maksat Kamalov, Deputy Director of the G. Musrepov Kazakh National Academic Theater for Children and Youth; Saltanat Bakaeva, actress of the M. Auezov Kazakh National Academic Drama Theater; Aida Zhantileuova, actress of the G. Musrepov Kazakh National Academic Theater for Children and Youth; and Shokan Kuttybaev, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Philology at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, playwright.

The finalists included: the "Shanyrak" student theater from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana, the "Duman" student theater from M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University in Shymkent, the "Zhaukazyn" student theater from Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University in Kyzylorda, the "Karakoz" student youth theater from Shakarim University in Semey, the "Debut" student theater from Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory in Almaty, and the "Urker" student theater from Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in Almaty.

In accordance with the competition regulations, the student theater groups deeply and truthfully reflected relevant social issues, the fate, and the role of women in society in their performances. The young actors, demonstrating their skill, earned warm applause from the audience. As a result of the competition, the "Shanyrak" student theater (with the play "Tanakoz") and the "Urker" student theater (with the play "Abai - Togzhan") were awarded 3rd degree diplomas. The "Duman" student theater (with the play "Notes of a Madman") received a 2nd degree diploma. And the "Karakoz" student youth theater was awarded a 1st degree diploma and the title of winner with the play "Karagoz". The "Zhaukazyn" student theater won the "Audience Choice Award". The winners of the competition were presented with letters of appreciation, certificates, and branded prizes from the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Tlep Bolat Anapiyevich.

The Republican Student Theater Competition "Student and Stage" annually continues its tradition, providing young talents with broad opportunities and paving the way for them to showcase their student creative abilities.
