Environmental Culture and Sustainable Ecosystem of the University

The issues of forming an environmental culture based on the careful use of resources, responsible consumption, and waste separation begin at home, in universities, and at every workplace. This was emphasized by the renowned ecologist Yevgeny Mukhamedzhanov during a training seminar titled "Sustainable Ecosystem of the University: Social, Environmental, and Infrastructure Issues" for the administrative staff of Abai KazNPU.

According to him, the key problem is the low involvement of people in environmental issues, which must be addressed by every member of society, starting with reducing the daily consumption of products and drinks packaged in plastic and polyethylene, as well as the separate sorting of waste for further recycling.

A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between Abai KazNPU and the ECO Network project, which includes activities aimed at raising awareness among students, faculty, and staff about environmental issues and ways to address them. This includes the installation of eco-bins on campus for the separate collection of paper, glass, and plastic, as well as machines for collecting plastic bottles.

The university has initiated and supported a long-term project focused on fostering an environmental culture, aimed at preserving the environment and maintaining the cleanliness of the city.
