Abai University Expresses Gratitude to Two Heroic Students

Today, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Banu Narbekova, welcomed Nurasyl Alimtayev and Ernar Turghyn - brothers and university students who rescued family members from a burning house - and presented them with a Letter of Appreciation on behalf of the Chairman of the Board-Rector Bolat Tilep, in recognition of their bravery.

"Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University sincerely thanks you for your courage and heroism during the fire. Your swift and selfless actions made a significant contribution to saving lives. Your assistance to the family affected by the fire not only reflects your personal bravery but also demonstrates high moral values and a strong sense of responsibility. Your heroic act is an inspiring example for all of us," said Banu Narbekova.

As a reminder, on March 2, a fire broke out in a residential building in the Zhetysu district of Almaty. Despite the thick smoke and raging flames, the students promptly called emergency services (112) and then entered the burning building to rescue those trapped inside. A 64-year-old woman and two girls, aged 17 and 6, were saved.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations acknowledged their bravery and awarded them the "For Courage in Fire" medal.

It is worth noting that Nurasyl Alimtayev is a 4th-year student at the Faculty of Arts, and Ernar Turghyn is a 3rd-year student at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports. Their actions stand as a powerful example of public responsibility and personal courage.
