Official meeting with INALCO representatives

On April 14, 2025, an official meeting was held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University with Mr. Gilles Forlot, Vice-President for European and International Relations of the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO), Paris. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening and expanding international academic cooperation between the two institutions.

From the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, the meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board - Rector Bolat Tilep, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Internationalization A.T. Iskakova, Vice-Rector for Academic Mobility B.M. Narbekova, Directors of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute A.A. Sabitova, and Agnès Bousse.

During the discussions, the parties considered priority areas of cooperation. The Rector of Abai University expressed interest in involving INALCO`s academic staff in teaching French at the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, as well as in the participation of Abai University faculty in the activities of INALCO`s Center for the Didactics of French and European Languages. Special attention was also given to the development of Kazakh language research at INALCO with the participation of Kazakhstani scholars.

In turn, Mr. Gilles Forlot proposed the involvement of Abai University students in the Summer School organized by INALCO and the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, focused on Russian language studies, and also highlighted the importance of developing academic mobility programs for INALCO students to study Russian at Abai University.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation. A number of preliminary agreements were reached, paving the way for new opportunities in academic dialogue and scientific collaboration between Kazakhstan and France.
