Science Week Concludes at Abai University

 

On April 14, 2025, the closing ceremony of the traditional Science Week, dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great thinker, poet, and educator Abai Qunanbaiuly, was held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. This significant event aimed to elevate the country`s scientific research to a new level at the intersection of education and science.


Held annually, Science Week at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University is an important initiative that promotes science, supports youth in scientific creativity, and introduces scientific discoveries to the public. This year`s edition stood out for its efforts to explore Abai`s legacy through the lens of science, discuss the role of national values in modern pedagogy, and inspire future scientists.


As part of Science Week 2025, held from April 7 to 14, around 120 events were organized to develop the university`s scientific potential, encourage students` research aspirations, and spark interest in scientific inquiry. The program featured various activities, including international scientific-practical conferences, seminars, competitions among young researchers, workshops, TED-style talks, and lecture series involving both domestic and international scholars.


The week commenced with the grand opening of the Abai Labs Scientific and Innovative Technopark, showcasing the achievements of the university`s leading scientists, faculty members, and young researchers. Scientific research projects, startups, seminars, and workshops were held at a high level. Notably, the opening of the "VR/AR Technologies in Education" laboratory marked a key milestone in the development of modern educational technologies. The lab aims to integrate next-generation virtual and augmented reality technologies into the learning process.


At the closing ceremony, the university administration expressed its gratitude to faculty members, students, and young scientists who actively contributed to the week`s success.


In his congratulatory speech, Chairman of the Board-Rector Bolat Tilep stated:
"Science is the driving force of national development. We must not only provide education but also become leaders in scientific thought. This Science Week, organized in honor of Abai Qunanbaiuly`s 180th anniversary, served as a golden bridge between the past and present, between spiritual heritage and modern inquiry."
During the ceremony, deans, faculty members, the Young Researchers` Council, and scientific staff were recognized with a range of awards:
- Letters of Gratitude from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for their active involvement in the preparation and implementation of the national referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant;
- "Akhmet Baitursynuly" badges from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for contributions to the promotion of the Kazakh language and strengthening cooperation in the humanities;
- "For Contribution to the Development of Science" badges from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
- "Honored Education Worker" badges from the Ministry of Education;
- "Leader in Science" honorary diplomas;
- Certificates of Appreciation and Honorary Diplomas from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Education for achievements in the field of education;
- Special awards in nominations such as "Veteran Scientist," "For Successful Management of Faculty and Research Projects," "Best Lecturer-2024," "Best Researcher-2024," "Best Supervisor in Scientific Training," and "For Active Participation in Organizing Events During Science Week";
- Letters of Appreciation for recipients of the "Young Scientist" grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
- Diplomas, certificates, and commemorative gifts were also awarded to the authors of outstanding scientific reports, project leaders, and active researchers.


It is worth noting that Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University is one of Kazakhstan`s leading scientific institutions. Over the past five years, the university has implemented more than 200 scientific projects and published over 5,000 articles.
