The XVII Republican Student Subject Olympiad Kicks Off at Abai University

On April 17, 2025, the opening ceremony of the XVII Republican Student Subject Olympiad was held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University among students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the group of educational programs for "Training of Chemistry Teachers."

At the opening ceremony, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Abai University Banu Narbekova, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography Kulyash Kaimuldinova, and Head of the Department of Chemistry Zhazira Mukataeva gave welcoming speeches and wished success to all participants.

The Olympiad has been regularly held since the early 2000s at the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main goal of this initiative is to improve the professional training of future teachers, develop their creative abilities, foster interest in science, and unlock the potential of talented students.

Within the framework of the State Program for Industrial and Innovative Development of Kazakhstan and the objectives outlined by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev under the Law "On Education," efforts are being made to modernize the educational process, widely implement innovative technologies, and enhance the professional competencies of university graduates. In this context, subject Olympiads at the national and international levels serve as important tools.

Traditionally, the university that achieves the best results in the previous year`s Olympiad earns the right to host the next Republican stage. The winner of the XVI Republican Chemistry Olympiad, held in 2024 at the Caspian University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh. Yessenov, was Berik Perdebai, a second-year student from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography of Abai KazNPU. Therefore, the XVII Olympiad is being held at Abai University this year.

The Olympiad, taking place on April 17-18, 2025, consists of two stages:
1. Theoretical round - solving complex problems in chemistry;
2. Practical round - performing experimental tasks using physico-chemical analysis methods.

Abai University wishes all participants success and expresses confidence that the strongest will emerge victorious in this academic competition.
