Open Lecture on the Topic “The Relationship Between Theoretical and Applied Knowledge in Social Psychology”

On April 21, 2025, the Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy held an open lecture within the discipline "Social Psychology" on the topic "The Relationship Between Theoretical and Applied Knowledge in Social Psychology." The lecture was delivered by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Acting Associate Professor Assem Bulshekbayeva. The event was organized for first-year students of the educational program 6В01801 - "Social Pedagogy."

The purpose of the open lecture was to ensure that students grasp the theoretical foundations of social psychology and understand how to apply them in practical contexts, develop professional thinking, and form skills in analyzing theories within real social situations.

The open lecture was aimed at a deep analysis of the theoretical foundations of social psychology and the mechanisms of their application in professional practice. Particular attention was paid to the interconnection between theoretical knowledge and social reality, as well as the role of psychological methods in socio-pedagogical activities. The lecturer explained concepts such as social perception, stereotypes, social roles, social behavior, intragroup and intergroup interaction, based on scientific theories and practical examples.

The scientific content of the lecture covered the main theoretical directions in social psychology - cognitive, behavioral, psychoanalytic, humanistic, and sociocultural approaches. Additionally, students were introduced to applied aspects of social psychology: family counseling, organizational communication, prevention of deviant behavior, leadership phenomena, team building, and others. This enables future specialists to make professional decisions grounded in scientific methodology.

The lecture was conducted in an interactive format: real-life scenarios were analyzed, and the effectiveness of applying theoretical knowledge in practice was demonstrated. A mini-discussion was also organized, where students exchanged opinions and reflected on the acquired knowledge in a professional context. The content of the lecture sparked great interest among attendees and provided an impetus for the development of their reflective thinking.

Faculty members who attended the event highly praised the structure of the lecture, the relevance of the topic, its scientific novelty, and the methodological approaches used. This session became a valuable experience contributing to the professional socialization of young specialists, the development of their ability to critically comprehend social reality, and the enhancement of their communicative and analytical competencies.
