Abai University doctoral student completed a scientific internship in Germany

From 14 April to 14 May 2025 the doctoral student of the 2nd course in the direction `Literary Studies` Lessova Khanzada Zhambylovna passed the foreign scientific internship in the Institute of Slavistics of the Technical University of Dresden (TUD, Germany).

The main purpose of the internship was the in-depth work on the topic of dissertation research in the international scientific environment.

The scientific adviser was Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Holger Kusse, a recognised expert in the field of philological research. Meetings and consultations with him proved to be incredibly valuable: the research structure, theoretical basis and linguistic aspects were discussed. The consultations allowed us to look at the topic from a new, broader scholarly angle.

As part of the internship, Lessova Khanzada also attended the classes of the candidate of pedagogical sciences A. A. Kraus and the scientific seminar of Professor Kusse.

A separate stage was independent work in the library of SLUB Dresden, where it was possible to conduct a bibliographic search on the thesis topic and even to familiarise herself with the original manuscript `Kitāb-ı Dedem Ḳorḳud` (‘My Grandfather Korkut`s Book`). This moment was a real discovery and a source of inspiration.

The doctoral student also gave a seminar for TUD students and doctoral students on ‘The Role of Abay KazNPU in the Internationalisation of Kazakhstani Education`. The presentation aroused interest and lively discussion.

An important outcome of the academic meetings was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Abai KazNPU and the Institute of Slavic Studies of TUD. This document opens new horizons for joint research projects, exchanges and development of bilateral partnership.

In addition, there was a visit to the Humboldt University in Berlin, also to the library - a unique space where one could get acquainted with the most valuable literary sources.

As a result of the internship:

- valuable material for the thesis was collected;

- international academic contacts were established;

- a memorandum of co-operation between the universities was signed;

- a scientific article for Scopus was prepared;

- an official internship certificate was received.
