Opening of the IV Republican Open Showdown Tournament

From July 21 to 23, 2025, the IV Republican Open Table Tennis Tournament for visually impaired people - SHOWDOWN - is being held at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The event is organized by the Department of Social and Youth Policy with support from the Youth Affairs Division.

The tournament`s opening took place on July 21, 2025, with athletes participating from various regions of the country - Almaty, Shymkent, Kostanay, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, and Turkestan.

Showdown is a unique sport popular among people with visual impairments. It is rapidly developing and gaining popularity in our country.

The main goal of the tournament is to increase interest in sports among people with disabilities, encourage them to lead an active lifestyle, and promote the development of an inclusive society.

Showdown is not just a game; it is an important sport that develops reaction skills and sensory perception.

The tournament`s opening was held at a high level. The President of the Kazakhstan Showdown Federation, Marat Kozhakhmetov, and the Vice-Rector for Social Development of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Maksat Zhakau, addressed the participants with welcoming speeches and wishes of success.

Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University intends to continue supporting inclusive sports and social projects in the future.
