Vacant position:

Specialist of the UNESCO Chair

The main functional responsibilities of the structural unit:

- Provides advocacy for education for sustainable development and global citizenship;

- popularization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among the teaching staff and employees;

- acts as a think tank and a link between the academic world, civil society, local communities to disseminate knowledge and practice in a field that is a priority for both the institution and UNESCO.

Main job responsibilities:

1) Participation in the development of the work plan of the UNESCO Chair and its implementation in accordance with the Development Strategy of NJSC "Abai University" for 2022-2025;

2) assistance in the development of the Action Plan for the implementation of the sustainable development goals and help in monitoring the implementation of the Plan;

3) participation in the implementation of the results of research and development in accordance with the specialization of the department within the SDG;

4) preparation of the necessary documentation for participation in competitions of scientific funds and organizations for the provision of funding for research work;

5) participation in the organization and conduct of scientific, scientific, methodological and scientific-practical seminars and other similar events on the subject of education for sustainable development (ESD), global citizenship, gender studies and other other issues on the UNESCO agenda;

6) preparation of the necessary information for the annual report on the results of the department`s activities to UNESCO and the National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

7) collection of the necessary package of documents for participation in the UNESCO research competitions;

8) communication with UNESCO and the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO on education and projects;

9) ensuring compliance with the rules of labor protection and safety, industrial sanitation and fire safety.

Higher, social and humanitarian, pedagogical, natural sciences

Required professional experience (duration, scope, other)

A person with a higher professional education is appointed to the position of a specialist

Professional competencies:

Basic knowledge of the education system, international conventions, SDGs, UNESCO principles, intercultural competence and communication skills, English business writing skills

Personal competencies and qualities:

Creativity, initiative, service orientation, attentiveness, self-motivation, quick learner, ability to work in a team and independently, good organizational skills (planning and implementation), ability to work outside of work hours, friendliness and fruitful communication with colleagues and students, high efficiency and ability work to tight deadlines and under pressure, understanding the importance of communication skills and interaction, discipline

Knowledge of languages, including the state language (list of languages that the candidate must speak)

Fluency in Kazakh and Russian, English - not lower than B1

Computer skills:

advanced PC user
