Grant funding competition for commercialisation research projects launched in Kazakhstan
A competition for grant funding of commercialisation research projects has started in Kazakhstan. Over the past three years, a pool of promising developments with definite business potential has formed in the country.
The best innovative goods and services on the basis of domestic scientific developments will receive state support, commercial interest abroad and be promoted for export. Scientists can receive up to 300 million tenge to implement their proposals.
The projects may cover such sectors of economy as "Healthcare", "Quality Education", "Digitalization", "Exploration", "Modernization of Energy Complex", "Manufacturing Industry", "Oil and Gas Chemical Industry", "Ecology", "Agroindustrial Complex", "Metallurgy", "Metalwork", "Tourism" and many others.
It should be noted that there have been innovations in the current contest aimed at transparency and openness. The projects to be funded will be selected by representatives of a specially created National Council for Commercialization. It will consist of leading scientists, representatives of venture business, industry, experts in the field of innovation. The Council will be approved by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the requirements of the competition, the project must be completed within three years and go on sale, and the co-financing must be at least 20% of the grant amount. Teams of up to five people can take part.
The call for applications starts on 6 June and closes on 5 July 2022. Applications can be submitted through the automated information system of the JSC National Centre for State Scientific and Technical Expertise -www.is.ncste.kz.
