20 grants for young scientists in an online school for analysts

Yessenov Data Lab 2023 is a 4-week online intensive to train Kazakhstani young scientists/specialists in the basic skills of big data analysis to apply the knowledge in their future work.

The school dates are 12 June - 8 July 2023. The number of participants is 20.

Terms of the program

The participants are citizens of Kazakhstan over 18 years old, working scientists, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students of technical and natural sciences, studying at Kazakhstani universities.

The requirements for candidates:

- Strong analytical skills;
- Interest and desire to be engaged in scientific activities and/or development of IT-technology in Kazakhstan;
- Knowledge of basic statistics and linear algebra.

Applicants must have personal equipment (computer/laptop), which meets the following criteria:

- CPU Intel Core i3 and AMD Ryzen 3 or higher;
- 4GB RAM and above.

Will be an advantage:

- Having an interest in a scientific field;
- Own scientific articles, materials, results of any research, etc;
- programming skills;
- B1 level or higher in English.

The language of instruction is Russian, with some elements of Technical English available.

Application deadline: 10 March - 11 April 2023.

Please fill in an application form at the Foundation`s website and submit the following documents:

1. A copy of an ID card;
2. Copy of transcript (all semesters) or undergraduate diploma with grades (for master`s and specialist students);
3. an essay on "I want to learn how to analyze data in order to..." (at least 7 sentences and no more than 750 words);
4. CV
5. A portfolio that demonstrates the candidate`s achievements in scientific research and/or expressed interests in a particular scientific field, and provide relevant evidence: own scientific articles, materials, results of any research, etc;
6. Certificate of English language proficiency (if available).
