Central Asia Tourism Development Conference
Larry Yu, professor of hospitality management and director of Master of Tourism Administration program, addressed the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference on Trends and Prospects of Tourism Development in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The event, which took place last month in Almaty, Kazakhstan, was co-sponsored by the GWSB International Institute of Tourism Studies, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Akimat of Almaty City and the Department of Tourism of Almaty City.
More than 120 papers and case studies were presented at the two-day event, which marked the first-ever formal gathering of tourism educators from the U.S., Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to Dr. Yu, the conference findings are expected to have a positive impact on tourism education, research and development in Central Asia.
