IV International Scientific Seminar «Abai Readings»


June 9, 2022 Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Institute of Philology of Abai KazNPU and Abai Center of Kazakh Science and Culture at the Institute of Neophilology of the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk (Poland) held the IV International Scientific Seminar "Abai Readings: History and Prospects of Culture of Kazakhstan", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the scientist-reformer Akhmet Baitursynov.


The international seminar was held in two formats. Many of its participants (including teachers and students who came from Almaty) gathered in the premises of Abai Center for Kazakh Culture and Science at the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk. Other Kazakh and foreign speakers spoke online.


The seminar opened with the speeches of honored guests. These were representatives of the diplomatic corps Ulzhan Galinova, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Poland and Yoanna Nasyrov, Director of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Gdansk. The participants of the International Seminar were greeted by the heads of two universities - Darkhan Bilyalov, PhD, Rector of Abai KazNPU and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Pomor Academy, Professor Danuta Gerchinska.


The seminar was moderated by a graduate of Abai KazNPU, and now a teacher at the Pomor Academy, PhD Maxim Ponomarenko. He gave the floor to the initiators of scientific cooperation between the two universities - Professor Galina Nefagina, Head of the Department of Russian Literature of the Institute of Neophilology of the Pomor Academy and Professor Saule Abisheva, Head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature of Abai KazNPU Institute of Philology.


Then scientific reports of scientists and young researchers from the universities of Poland, Kazakhstan, and the USA were made. Their reports in Polish and Russian, devoted to the study of the Kazakh language, Kazakh literature, history and culture of Kazakhstan, aroused great interest of the audience. The reports were enthusiastically discussed by the participants of the scientific discussion.


All participants of the 4th International Seminar are confident that fruitful cooperation between philologists from different countries will continue.
