The historical and cultural heritage of the Golden Horde (Jochi Ulus) period On February 20, 2025, in Almaty, at the State Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as the Central Museum), a national round table was held on the topic "Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Golden Horde (Jochi Ulus): Issues of Protection, Restoration, and Research," within the framework of the exhibition "Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Golden Horde Period."
The round table was organized by the Central Museum, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Saraishyk" RSE, and the National Historical, Cultural, and Natural Museum-Reserve "Ulytau."
The goal of the round table was to discuss issues related to the protection, restoration, and research of the historical and cultural heritage of the Golden Horde, promote this heritage among the public, demonstrate its place in the tourism sector, and foster a sense of respect for ancient heritage among the younger generation.
In this context, Madiyar Eleuov, academician of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor (Head of the Department at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), highlighted the need to discuss issues related to the periodization of the history of the Kazakh Khanate and the necessity of examining it from eight different perspectives, which will contribute to future research by young scholars. Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University) also focused on the need to restore historical and cultural monuments of the Golden Horde and to clarify the routes of the Great Silk Roads. Nurlan Atygaev, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor (Head of the Department at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University), introduced some sources from Iranian and Turkish libraries related to the history of the Jochi Ulus. Among the documents obtained, miniatures depicting the appearance of the Golden Horde and the Chagatai Ulus, as well as royal clothing styles, were discussed.
Additionally, during the round table, several reports were presented on the research of archaeological monuments in Kazakhstan and their conservation.
