The history of the creation of endowment funds

Endowments first appeared in the USA and were used primarily for non-governmental support of educational institutions. Currently, the endowment of Harvard University is more than 34 billion dollars, Yale - 12.7 billion, Princeton and Stanford - over 10 billion each. The National Endowment for the Arts, which grew out of the endowment, actually performs the functions of the Ministry of Culture, which is absent in the United States.

The Abai Endowment Fund was opened in 2024. The main goal of the foundation is to ensure the financial sustainability of strategically important projects for the university.

Objectives of the Foundation:
- establishment of mutually beneficial relations between the university and its graduates;
- formation and increase of capital by attracting the maximum possible number of donations;
- transfer of investment income to the university for the development of the main areas.
