Open Lesson on the Topic "Murphy`s Law and My Hometown"


On April 8, 2025, the Department of Language and ENU/ETC Preparation at the Foundation Faculty held an open English language lesson for students. The topic of the lesson was "Murphy`s Law and My Hometown." During the lesson, students academically described their hometowns from cultural and social perspectives, using the First Conditional structure, and discussed the principles of Murphy`s Law.


Lesson Objectives:
• To use the First Conditional structure to describe complex situations and unexpected events;
• To describe the hometown from a cultural and social perspective;
• To discuss challenges and unexpected situations encountered in life through the lens of Murphy`s Law.


During the lesson, students:
• Used the First Conditional structure to describe the characteristics of their hometowns, improving their grammar skills;
• Discussed difficulties and unexpected life events using Murphy`s Law, developing critical thinking skills;
• Described their hometown from a cultural and social perspective and wrote a small academic essay;
• Developed skills in presenting their opinions both orally and in writing.


This lesson was aimed at enhancing critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills, as well as encouraging students to approach life`s challenges and unexpected situations creatively.
