Scientific Seminar on the Topic "Directions of Research in Modern Linguistics"

As part of the Science Decade, the Department of Kazakh Language Theory and Teaching Methodology invited Bayynkol Kalievich Kaliev, a linguist who has made significant contributions to the development of Kazakh linguistics, to deliver a guest lecture on April 9, 2025. He is a Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan. The scholar spoke to students in the second and third years of the educational program 6B01701 - "Kazakh Language and Literature," as well as the department faculty. He added that as the editor-in-chief of a 10-volume explanatory dictionary, creating dictionaries requires enormous work and demonstrates the importance of the national language. The expert stated that more than 500 research papers published under his name are dedicated to the study of the Kazakh language, and he expounded on their substance and significance.

During the guest lecture, professors, lecturers, and students asked the scholar several questions. These included concerns regarding the names of plants with therapeutic capabilities, the significance of collecting words not found in the "Dictionary of the Kazakh Literary Language," and questions about the "Dictionary of Mukagali`s Language." The scientists` statements pleased the audience greatly. Furthermore, a question about the future directions of Kazakh language study was raised, resulting in a lively conversation. The scholar`s replies to the questions and remarks provided the audience with fresh ideas and valuable recommendations.

The scientist`s disciple, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sherubay Kurmanbayuly, also attended the guest lecture and delivered a meaningful speech to the students about the results of hard work, life principles, and educational lessons.
