Joint urban workshop of the branch of the Department of Biology of Abai University and specialized Lyceum No. 178
On 27th February 2025, a joint city seminar-workshop was held at the Specialized Lyceum for Gifted Children №178 in Almaty, organized by the branch of the Biology Department of the Kazakh Pedagogical University named after Abai on the topic "Improving the quality of education through the development of functional literacy in teaching biology and chemistry".
The seminar-workshop, aimed at developing the functional literacy of students within the framework of the project "Successful School - 2025" and the program for the development of the city of Almaty, was attended by the director of the specialized lyceum №178 K.Kh.Shadiev and his teachers, professors and teachers of the Kazakh National University named after Abai, a methodologist of the MCNTOTCEDE of Almaty B.B.Alimbekova, teachers of chemistry and biology of schools in Almaty.
The seminar was attended by the head of the biology department of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, PhD A.D. Maimatayeva, professors and teachers of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay K.A. Zhumagulova, G.S. Kamiev, A.G. Aubakir, R.E. Amzeev, biology teacher of school-gymnasium №202 I.P. Otegenova, teachers of specialized lyceum №178 A.R. Batyrkanova, M.T. Alipova. The topics of the report included the theory and practice of developing natural science education, the formation of natural science literacy of secondary school students, methodological foundations for organizing project work and developing leadership skills through practical research.
Following the seminar-training, the participants received answers to their questions and made suggestions for holding such seminar-trainings more frequently.
