Students of Aбай University visited the Museum of the History of Almaty

On January 14, 2025, as part of the mentoring project "Journey to the Museums of Almaty," organized by the National Center for Education "Хәкім Абай" and the Young Poets School named after Orazaly Dosbosynov, foreign students from the Faculty of Philology visited the Museum of the History of Almaty.

The event, implemented under the memorandum of cooperation between the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and the Department of Culture of Almaty, aims to introduce foreign students to the history of our beautiful city, strengthen the cultural potential of learners, foster personal and civic qualities, and widely promote spiritual values and historical heritage.

Foreign students who visited this major scientific and cultural center, which encompasses all aspects of the historical and cultural heritage of the Zhetysu region, explored works of visual art, a unique collection of Kazakh ethnography, as well as the ethnography of various ethnic groups currently residing in Almaty, collections of cultural and household items from different eras, numismatics, photographs, and documents, totaling about 40,000 exhibits in the museum.

Additionally, the students had a unique opportunity to explore museum halls such as "The History of Ancient and Medieval Almaty," "At the Dawn of the Kazakh State," "Zhetysu Ethnography," "The Verney Period in the History of Almaty," "Almaty in the 20th Century," "The Development of Professional Art," "December," and "Almaty - The Golden Cradle of Independence," which allowed them to learn about the thousand-year history of Almaty, from the Bronze Age to the present day.

It is worth noting that the Museum of the History of Almaty, part of the "Almaty City Museums Association," along with the Museum of Folk Musical Instruments named after Ykylas, the D.A. Kunaev Museum, the N. Tileniev Memorial Museum, the Literary Memorial Museum named after S. Mukhanov and G. Musirepov, the Multimedia Center for Traditional Music, and the Museum-House of Akhmet Baitursynuly, provide free admission and tours for students, thanks to the support of the university administration.
