Graduates of EP «Primary Education» on the results of their diploma projects 

 

Department of Primary Education of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology conducted a survey of 2022 graduates on the results of writing and implementation of diploma projects. Fifty-four students (27 Russian Department and 27 Kazakh Department) were surveyed. 70% rated the quality of the Department of Primary Education`s administration of the graduates` diploma project as high.

 

Since in the 2021-2022 academic year the criteria for evaluating projects by the contribution of each project participant were developed, the question was asked about the clarity of the criteria and the fairness of their application by the commission. The fairness of the consideration of the evaluation criteria for each member of the project team was noted by 92.6% of the graduates. 

 

74% of Russian respondents and 85% of Kazakh respondents said that they liked working on the project in the group and they were satisfied with the composition of the working group. Frequency of consultation with supervisor and working group meetings in Kazakh groups is the same - 1-2 times a week for 80% of respondents. In Russian groups - 70% met themselves and with the supervisor 1-2 times a week. 90% of surveyed graduates noted high quality of leadership.

 

93% of surveyed graduates of Russian department use manuals in their school work. Among respondents of Kazakh department this indicator was 81%.  It should be noted that for the defense of diploma projects there were ready-made educational aids in printed or electronic format (games, simulators, applications, etc.), methodological developments, workbooks, author`s programs of courses for students, etc.

 

Opinions about the type of thesis project were divided. 56% of Russian respondents and 70% of Kazakh respondents expressed the opinion that they liked working in small groups. They believe that the result of the project should be a finished didactic product: a collection, a notebook, a manual, etc. 44% of respondents of Russian department and 30% of Kazakh department would prefer an individual project with the preparation of a collection, notebook, manual, etc. or an individual thesis with personal experimental work.

 

The survey was developed by the Head of the Department, Professor Aziya Zhumabayeva, Associate Professor Assel Akpayeva, Senior Lecturer, PhD Zhupat Astambayeva. The Department of Primary Education continues to improve the forms and methods of training students of the final year to write graduate qualification works based on the results obtained.
