International scientific-practical conference on the topic: «Military history of the Western region of Kazakhstan: features, some aspects, problems»

On April 10, 2025, an international scientific and practical conference on the topic was held at the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai during the traditional Science Week: "Military history of the western region of Kazakhstan: features, some aspects, problems" within the framework of the scientific project (IRN AR19679667).

The purpose of the conference was to introduce into scientific circulation modern research and archival materials on the issues of the national liberation movement of the Kazakh people, the historical contribution of Kazakhstani soldiers to the victory over the fascist invaders and other issues of the military history of Kazakhstan. Scientists from far and near abroad and historians from Kazakhstan took part in the conference and made valuable presentations.

Yertai Sultan, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation at Abai KazNPU, opened the conference with welcoming remarks in three languages and wished success to the conference. Further, the dean of the Faculty of History and Law, academician Gabit Kenzhebayev, continued the work of the conference.

Director of the Chokan Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology Kabuldinov Ziyabek, Director of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shildebai Sabit, Vice-rector of the North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute (State Technological University) Nina Orlova delivered cordial greetings and wishes for success at the conference.

At the plenary session, Dmitry A. Zakharov, Minister of Education of the Chuvash Republic (Russia), made interesting scientific reports based on archival documents on the topic: "The victory of unity: the peoples of Eurasia in the defeat of Nazi Germany (1941-1945)", Professor of the University of Kastanu (Turkey) Orhan Soylemez on the topic: "The population of the ancient Caspian "Khun Ordasy"", Professor of Bishkek State University named after K.Karasaev (Kyrgyzstan) Saparaliev Doletbek Bekishovich on the topic: "The military art of the Kyrgyz in the XVIII - XIX centuries. (based on historical sources in Russia)", Professor of the North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute (Russia) Sergey Ruslanovich Chedzhemov on the topic: "Sons of the peoples of central asia in the battle with the Nazi invaders during the second world war" and Professor at the Azerbaijan Institute of Petroleum and Industry (Azerbaijan) Narmina Shovketkyzy Amirbekova on the topic: "Military art, armament and organization of troops of the Kazakh and Azerbaijani khanates in the XVIII-XIX centuries: historical parallels".

Along with them, prominent Kazakhstani scientists and historians, academician Abzhanov Khankeldi, Abdirov Murat, Samat Oniyazov, Simtikov Zhomart, and others shared interesting scientific articles, also written on the basis of valuable archival materials.

A report written in English by an active participant in the scientific project of Dr. PhD Zakarya Rahmetolla on the topic: «The phenomenon of war in nomadic Kazakh society» aroused wide interest among those present at the conference.

Further, the work of the conference was continued in sections, where scientists made their presentations, exchanged views and offered their wishes and suggestions for improving the work of the scientific project. There was also a professional exchange of views between the conference participants and specific proposals were made for the development of science in general. The conference participants highly appreciated the substantive depth and practical significance of this conference and welcomed the organization of meetings in this format in the future.
