Practical seminar «Cognitive processes in schizophrenia: current research and clinical practice»
On March 12, 2025, a practical seminar was held on the topic «Cognitive processes in schizophrenia: current research and clinical practice». The practical seminar was organized by the Department of General and Applied Psychology with the assistance of Acting Associate Professor Gulzhanar Bekmuratova and undergraduates «7M03122 - Clinical Psychology with the basics of psychotherapy» Gulzhan Amangeldinova, Zhuldyz Toleu. The leading speaker of the event was clinical psychologist and researcher from Sweden Mysan Eriksdotter.
During the workshop, participants discussed key aspects of social cognition in patients with schizophrenia, including similarities and differences with cognitive impairments in autism spectrum disorders. Attention was paid to the issues of terminological ambiguity in the scientific literature and the difficulty of diagnosing cognitive impairments in this group of patients. In addition, the speaker analyzed the existing methodological limitations of research in this area and suggested possible ways to overcome them.
One of the central points of the workshop was a discussion about practical approaches to therapy with patients suffering from schizophrenia. Modern methods of treatment aimed at improving the social adaptation of patients, as well as prospects for further development of scientific research in this area, were considered.

The practical seminar allowed the participants to deepen their knowledge in the field of cognitive psychology and expand their understanding of modern approaches to the study and treatment of cognitive disorders in schizophrenia.
