Webinar «One hundred tenge per day for education»

On 1 March 2021, Gulnaz Satbay, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education, held an online discussion on the theme «A good person is always by your side», referring to those people who will always come to the aid of those in need.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. K. Tokayev declared the past year 2020 «The Year of Volunteers» (https://kazakh-tv.kz/kz/view/society/page_205496_2020-zhyl-eriktiler-zhyly-dep-zhariyalandy). In this regard, the «Volunteer Day» was celebrated in all parts of the country, and assistance was provided to the needy and disabled. The event, which received wide coverage in the media, thanks to the activity of each institution, collective and individual citizens, found its form and really pleased those in need. However, in most cases, we do not notice the activists involved in this case in everyday life. We must not forget that volunteers are always wonderful, instructive and responsive. Social activity of volunteers and support for people in need are among the socially and even politically significant things. The importance of the group of volunteers in the field of education, including pedagogical, is even higher. In this regard, special attention should be paid to the charity event «100 tenge per day for education» of teachers of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education of our university. We are pleased to announce that this event was initiated by the senior lecturer of the department Gulnaz Satbay and is held regularly and systematically. In particular, a small amount of money collected for 100 tenge per day finds truly needy owners and pleases our students. Consequently, on the eve of the holiday «Thanksgiving Day», announced by the decree of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy N. A. Nazarbayev, the department organized a volunteer-humanitarian online webinar on the topic «100 tenge per day for education». The conference was attended by representatives of the management of the Institute and the head of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation, Professor of the University K. Kh. Abdrakhmanova. At the online meeting, along with the students who received financial assistance, representatives of the department staff spoke, who expressed their opinion and gratitude. According to the organizer of this charitable action Gulnaz Satbay, «folk wisdom says: « ... Kop tukirse kol» (A lake is formed from drops). The money raised is a sincere donation from my relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors, students, and Instagram readers. Thank you to everyone who showed charity and joined the volunteer movement!». The teachers of our chair with the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education appreciate our volunteers and hope that they will continue their work in the future.
