Multilingualism in the era of globalization: know all other languages

On April 22, 2021, an online conference «Multilingualism in the era of globalization: know all other languages!» was organized by senior lecturer of the Oriental Philology and Translation department and Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education, Shayriam Baratova .

The event was attended by Deputy Director for Educational work Yerlan Kasenov and teachers of the department. The main speakers were the head of the department, Associate Professor, K.Kh.Abdrakhmanova, Professor A.K.Zhumabekova, Associate Professor R. U.Arziev, E.Z.Esbosynov.

The speakers spoke about the role of Arabic, English, Turkic and Uyghur languages in the country, and the importance of studying them and their relevance in life. They also exchanged views on the role of foreign languages in modern society, noting that the multilingual policy of the state is a big step towards improving the competitiveness of its citizens in the era of globalization. The speakers presented their ideas based on concrete facts.

It was noted that the presentations on «Multilingualism as a factor of intercultural and inter-ethnic communication», «Multilingualism as a requirement of globalisation», «Multilingualism in Kazakhstan», «Use of languages of ethnic groups and national diasporas in Turkey», which addressed important issues, were very interesting and had novel ideas. The event with the participation of teachers and students was of great significance for all.
