The First Stage of the Essay Contest “Abai`s Legacy – A Spiritual Treasure” Concludes

On April 7, 2025, the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation Studies at the Faculty of Philology of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, with the support of the Uyghur Language and Culture Support Center and the I. Iskenderov Secondary School, organized an essay contest titled "Abai`s Legacy - A Spiritual Treasure." The contest was held in honor of the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Qunanbaiuly.

The main goal of the event was to encourage students to study Abai`s works more deeply and express their own thoughts freely and effectively in written form. It also aimed to identify creative, critical-thinking youth with strong writing skills.

The contest was open to 11th-grade students from Uyghur-language schools in Almaty, as well as first- and second-year students majoring in Uyghur Language and Literature and English Language at the Faculty of Philology of Abai University.

During the event, the participants were greeted and wished success by Acting Head of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation Studies K.T. Duisenova, PhD in Philology and Associate Professor R. Arziev, PhD in Philology and Senior Lecturer H.V. Masimova, along with Almaty school teachers - PhD in Philology H. Khamraev, R. Ilieva, and R. Mukhammetova.

A total of 30 students participated in the contest, demonstrating their creative potential. All essays will be evaluated according to the contest criteria, and the best works will advance to the next stage.
