The Center was established by Decree No. 1054 of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 4, 2013. It operates as a separate structure under the right of economic management of the "Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai" NJSC due to the number of full-time researchers.

 

The purpose of the Center is to contribute to the development of Turkology by engaging in fundamental scientific works, organizing international conferences, publishing books and scientific articles, conducting joint projects with scientists from Turkic countries, and strengthening scientific cooperation.

 

The tasks and functions of the Center include:

Organizing international conferences, scientific seminars, and meetings with Turkologists.

Publishing books and monographs related to Turkology.

Translating scientific works published in Turkic languages.

Inviting scientists from the Turkic world to give lectures to university students.

Cooperating and working jointly with Turkological research institutes worldwide on joint projects and events.

 

Scientific papers and textbooks are continuously being published. For example, seven books have been published in the last three years, including works such as "Мұқағали тілі сөздігі", "Абай тілінің ерекшеліктері", "Абай - Ғақлия кітабы", "Абай өлеңдерінің қолжазбасы", "Kazakça Atasözü ve Deyimlerdeki Eskicil Unsurlar", "Alaş ve Terminoloji", and "Түркі тілдерінің салыстырмалы грамматикасы пәнінен қосымша материалдар".

 

In the period from 2020 to 2023, the Center`s staff published 20 scientific articles in domestic publications recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in the Field of Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as four research papers in peer-reviewed international scientific journals based on Scopus.

 

Employees of the scientific center actively participate in competitions for grant financing of projects by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For instance, the chief researcher of the center, Marlen Adilov, became the recipient of the Zhas Galym project for 2022-2024. Furthermore, the head of the Center, Sherubay Kurmanbaiuly, was honored with the `Ualikhanov Nominal Prize` for the best scientific research in the field of humanities in 2023."
