Final report of 3rd year students of Abai University on dual education at the NGS (New Generation School)

On April 30, 2025, the final report of 3rd year students who completed Industrial practice at the New Generation School (NGS) innovation school as part of the dual education program in specialty 6B01303 - "Primary Education with ICT" was held.

Industrial practice took place throughout the 2024-2025 academic year and became a key stage in the professional training of future teachers. The training is organized within the framework of the KAZDUAL international project - "Implementation of the dual system in Kazakhstan" under the ERASMUS+ program, and integrates both regular practical activities in the school environment and theoretical training at the university. The students stayed at school for 3 days, acting as teacher`s assistants and supervisors, and received a monthly financial reward from the school.

The head of the Industrial practice was Professor Larisa Lebedeva. On the part of the NGS school, the organizational and methodological work was supervised by Tatyana Korosteleva, Deputy Director for Academic Performance, Raushan Bekmuratova, mentor, and Diana Kashkimbayeva, an elementary school methodologist.

The main objectives of Industrial practice in the 3rd year are: the formation of professional skills in the real school process; the development of methods; the development of digital literacy, pedagogical reflection and the communicative culture of the future teacher.

Key results: Students, under the guidance of Abai University methodologists and school mentors, conducted a series of trial and open lessons, participated in school and national events, developed multimedia educational resources, and conducted curatorial work. Special attention was paid to the participation of students in competitions of local history tasks and scientific projects with younger schoolchildren.

As part of the final week, a portfolio with the results of Industrial practice was presented; video lessons, extracurricular activities, and open classes were held as part of the Pedagogical Premiere festival; a final conference was organized where students shared their pedagogical findings, and representatives of the school and university administration summed up the results and gave feedback.

The director of the school, Rufina Khisamutdinova, attended the reporting conference to discuss the draft plan of industrial training for the 4th year.

The partnership between the Department of Primary Education of Abai University and the NGS school allowed to create an effective environment for the formation of professional competencies, and confirmed the successful implementation of the dual education model in the context of the modernization of teacher education in Kazakhstan.

The mentors of Industrial practice received letters of appreciation from the Dean of the Faculty, Galiya Abayeva, and the head of the Department of Primary Education, Asia Zhumabayeva.
