The winners of the 2nd International Comic Contest "Teacher in a Multicultural World" have been announced.
On May 15, 2025, the results of the 2nd International Comics Competition "Educator in a Multicultural World," organized by the Department of Primary Education of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in collaboration with "Teachers Lab" LLP, were announced. The competition took place from February 17 to April 17, aiming to identify talented comic authors capable of presenting educational themes in a multicultural environment in an engaging and accessible manner.
Forty-five students from various cities in Kazakhstan participated in the competition: Almaty, Astana, Aktobe, Semey, Atyrau, and Kaskelen. Additionally, submissions were received from students in Russia and Uzbekistan.
Participants competed in ten categories: "Best Educational Comic," "Most Creative Educational Material," "Classroom Hero," "Best Comic by Elementary School Subjects," "Best Comic Design," "Best Comic for Developing Social Skills," "Inspiring Story," "Innovative Comic," "Best AI-created Comic," and "Artificial Intelligence and Pedagogy."
The competition`s program committee consisted of six members:
- Asia Zhumabayeva, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Primary Education at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University;
- Saule Zeinolla, PhD, "Teachers Lab" LLP;
- Almash Turalbayeva, PhD, Acting Associate Professor at the Department of Primary Education at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University;
- Bekzod Baidzhanov, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Art Studies at Ferghana State University;
- Alexander Malkov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of General and Social Pedagogy, Kuban State University;
- Timur Baynazarov, Teacher at the Department of Primary Education, Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajiniyaz.
The competition jury included experts in pedagogy and psychology, comprising seven experienced educators:
- Adlet Kariyev, Сandidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Postdoctoral student, Associate Professor at the Department of Primary Education at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University;
- Ildana Khalitova, "Teachers Lab" LLP, Moderator-Methodologist;
- Mariam Bekbayeva, Magister Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Primary Education at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University;
- Oksana Us, Сandidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of General and Social Pedagogy at Kuban State University;
- Akbota Konyrova, Trainer at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Gulaida Kallibekova, Сandidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Primary Education, Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajiniyaz;
- Klara Umurzakova, Russian language teacher at the Regional Specialized Physics and Mathematics Boarding School named after Zh. Kapparov.
The competition results were approved by unanimous decision of the jury, and laureates were awarded diplomas of I, II, and III degrees based on their scores. Additionally, all competition participants received certificates from "Teachers Lab" LLP, granting them paid access to Chat GPT, Elicit, Canva, Zoom, and Gamma App.
The event underscored the significance of a creative approach in education and demonstrated how art can serve as a bridge between cultures and generations, opening new horizons for pedagogical science and practice.
