Open class on the topic: “The Nature Corner and the Kindergarten Area as the Basis for Environmental Education of Preschool Children”


On October 29, 2025, Alibek Zhaukassyn, a second-year doctoral student of the educational program 8D01201 – “Preschool Education and Training”, conducted an open class on the discipline “Methodology of Introducing Preschool Children to the Surrounding World” on the topic “The Nature Corner and Kindergarten Territory as the Basis for Environmental Education of Preschool Children.”

Purpose of the Class:

To deepen students’ scientific and methodological knowledge of the content, methods, techniques, and pedagogical conditions of environmental education for preschool children through the effective use of the nature corner and kindergarten territory in the process of familiarizing them with the surrounding world; to foster the ecological culture of future educators and enhance their professional readiness for organizing environmental protection activities.

Third-year students of the educational program 6B01201 – “Preschool Education and Training” participated in the open class. During the session, students worked in groups, presented, and analyzed models of nature corners prepared as part of their homework. In addition, they actively participated in educational games of ecological orientation, demonstrating creativity, ecological thinking, and professional communication skills.

Throughout the class, students considered the nature corner and kindergarten territory as effective environments for environmental education, analyzing their role in developing preschool children’s cognitive activity and love for nature. At the end of the class, the students discussed modern approaches to environmental education and presented their own proposals for organizing nature corners and fostering children’s ecological culture.

 

The open class was attended by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Aksaule Erzhenbaykyzy Mankesh, who highly evaluated the organization level of the session, the relevance of the topic, and the quality of its content. The professor noted the students’ activeness, creativity during group work, and the level of their professional competence formation. In conclusion, she provided specific methodological recommendations and emphasized the importance of the systematic use of the nature corner and kindergarten territory in the process of environmental education for preschool children.
