Methodological seminar "Development of functional literacy of students: Singapore experience"

On April 11, 2025, in the 1st academic building of Abai University (classroom №604), as part of the «Science Week - 2025» events organized by the lecturers of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography, Department of Geography and Ecology, D.M. Borankulova and A.N. Beikitova, a comprehensive methodological seminar was held on the topic: «Developing Students` Functional Literacy: The Experience of Singapore».

The seminar was conducted by Rakhymbekova Ulpan Tuimebayevna, a highly qualified specialist - geography and history teacher at Secondary School No. 124 in Almaty, teacher-researcher, and distance trainer at the «Center of Pedagogical Excellence». She introduced the teaching staff and students of the department to Singapore`s educational experience.

During the seminar, she assigned tasks aimed at developing students` functional literacy in geography, which were completed in groups. She also explained the algorithm of the globally used 5E model and taught various teaching methods and techniques.
