The history of the formation and modern work of the Department of Pedagogy of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology is inseparable from all the transformations that have been taking place throughout the 95-year development in the oldest and main pedagogical university of the country - Abai KazNPU.

 

The year of the Department of Pedagogy creation is October 1928. Such outstanding personalities as H.D.Dosmukhamedov, S.E.Alzhanov, S.T.Kozhakhmetov, T.T.Tazhibaev, R.G.Lemberg, A.S.Sitdykov, I.G.Autukhov, A.P.Belkovsky, R.S.Kepler, R.I.Bondarev, A.P.Skrepkova, V.A.Rotenberg, E.M.Virolainen stood at the origins of the formation of the department, A.G.Glyadkovskaya, T.A.Almazova, N.K.Chernilovskaya. The traditions laid down by the first heads of the department were worthily continued by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor G.A.Umanov, and then by his student Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor K.K. Zhampeisova. Today, the department is headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate Professor, Professor of the University of Kolumbayeva Sh.Zh.

 

In 1976, the laboratory "Scientific foundations of the educational process in the pedagogical university" was established at the Department of Pedagogy of KazPI named after Abai, the head of which was appointed N.D.Khmel, and KazPI named after Abai was designated the main university under the program of scientific research related to teacher training. Later, Kazakhstani researchers of this direction entered the All-Union Teacher program (1986-1996). In 1988, on the initiative of Professor G.A. Umanov, scientific and methodological complexes (NMCs) were opened on the basis of Almaty schools. The department had laboratories on problems of higher education, ethnopedagogy and the history of pedagogy, as well as a methodological seminar on topical issues of pedagogy.

 

In 1992, on the basis of the Department of Pedagogy, the first specialized council in the republic was opened on 14.05.01 for awarding the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences in the specialty "13.00.01-Theory and History of Pedagogy", and then in ethnopedagogy. In 2000-2003, as part of a research project under the fundamental research program "Methodology and theory of reforming vocational education and the formation of a creative personality of a future specialist", a group of scientists of the department K.K.Zhampeisova (project manager), N.D.Khmel, A.A.Beisenbayeva, N.N.Khan, and others developed the Concept of continuous pedagogical education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Concept of higher pedagogical education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in which the main goal was laid - the training of a teacher of a new formation, a spiritual and moral, responsible, actively creative, versatile, professionally competent creative personality. These concepts were approved by the Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan in December 2005 and are still valid.

 

In the course of implementing the concrete steps outlined in the Concepts, the teaching staff of the department developed the SES on pedagogical disciplines "Introduction to the pedagogical profession", "History of school and pedagogical thought of a person", "Pedagogy", "Methods of educational work", developed curricula and rules of pedagogical practice of students. The teaching staff prepared a new generation textbook "Pedagogy" in 3 editions in Kazakh and Russian. The value and advantage of this textbook was that the content of the lectures was based on personal and subject-practical approaches in the pedagogical process.

 

Currently, the scientific and pedagogical potential of the department consists of doctors and candidates of pedagogical sciences, PhD, professors, associate professors of the Higher Attestation Commission, associate professors, masters of pedagogical Sciences, among whom are academicians and corresponding members of MANPO, the International Academy CONCORD, holders of badges of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan "For contribution to the development of Science", "Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", "S.Altynsarin", as well as honorary employees of KazNPU named after Abaya.

 

Professor K.K. Zhampeisova and University professor Sh.Zh. Columbayeva are among the authors and developers of: "Concepts of systemic modernization of higher pedagogical education" (2015), "Concepts of the implementation of the national idea "Mangilik El" in universities of Kazakhstan" (2015), Conceptual foundations of education in the context of the implementation of the Program "Rukhani Zhangyru" (2019 G.), "Concepts of development of higher pedagogical education of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (2022), etc.

 

The scientists of the department continue to conduct research in the field of modernization of pedagogical education, national education of students, participate in the development and examination of conceptual and methodological documents in the field of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the implementation of fundamental and applied research for grants of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and KazNPU named after Abai.

 

Today, the teaching staff of the department serves all educational programs of the university in the direction of "Pedagogical Sciences", participates in the work of regional dissertation councils, is engaged in reviewing master`s and doctoral dissertations, developing and reviewing scientific, educational and teaching-methodical works, conduct versatile social and educational work with students of all educational fields. The teaching staff of the department is engaged in the organization and management of the educational practice of students of 1-2 courses, of the pedagogical direction, as well as methodological counseling of students of 3-4 courses of the pedagogical direction of the pedagogical practice.
