Online seminar «Speech culture of today`s youth»

On 27 April, 2020, with the help of their mentors Nurzhamal Shengelbaeva, Kulzagi Ibragimova and Aigerim Sebdaiyrova, the 2nd-year students of the specialty «Translation Studies» of the Institute conducted online -seminar on the topic «Speech culture of today`s youth».

The goal is to focus students on the culture of youth speech in modern society, on the need to overcome shortcomings in everyday communication.

The encouraging moment of the seminar is that, in general, our students are concerned about the state of speech culture of modern youth, as well as the future of their native literary language.

Students with interest listened to information on the origin and types of jargon and slang from the teachers of the chair: the head E.Yesbosynov, professor A.Zhumabekova, teachers A. Almabekova, R. Orazova, E. Sambetov, G. Alikhkyzy and G. Dosmatova.

The organizing students of the seminar were especially active in answering the questions of teachers:

- «How do future philologists-translators relate to the use of jargons in speech?» - Professor A. Zhumabekova;

-«Will excessive use of jargon negatively affect the evolutionary process of any language?» - N.Shengelbaeva (or R.Orazova).

One of the key points of the seminar is the lively participation of both students and teachers in the quiz «What does this slang mean in the literary language?» Compiled and conducted by the moderator of the seminar Diana Aisaeva.

The head of the chair, Ergali Yesbosynov, in his closing speech emphasized the importance of events on relevant topics for young people and expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants of the online seminar.
