Kossov Vladimir Nikolaevich (1962, Alma-Ata).

He graduated the Physical Chair of Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov by specialty "Thermal physics and molecular physics" (1984), postgraduate studies at Almaty State University named after Abai and was seconded to the Ural Polytechnic Institute in Sverdlovsk (1986-1989).
Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1998). Professor (2000). Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan (2003). Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan (2005). Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (2008).
He worked at the Faculty of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov in the research laboratory of mathematical modeling (1989-1990).
On teaching at Almaty State University named after Abai since 1991, where he worked as a senior teacher to head of the chair of theoretical physics and theoretical modeling. Vice-Rector for scientific work (2000-2005), Vice-Rector for educational and methodical work (2005-2008). Currently, Vice-Rector for scientific work of Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai.
Awarded the Medal of the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge for scientific achievements in the field of Thermal Physics (UK) (2007), Diplomas Science Funds of MES RK, Russian Fund for Basic Research.
Area of scientific interests: thermal physics of gases and diffusion mass transfer. He created a new scientific direction connected with the study of the mechanical instability of equilibrium in the isothermal diffusion of multicomponent gas mixtures. Together with Professors Y. Zhavrin (Kazakhstan) and V.D.Seleznev (Russian) discovered and theoretically described the effect of the abnormal component separation of multicomponent gas systems in the conditions of free convection. Twice was the owner of the State scientific grant in the area of physical and mathematical sciences, as a scientist and a specialist who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of science and technology of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2002.2006). He participated in the development of state educational standards of the RK on specialty "Physics" of group "Education".

He created his own scientific school and prepared 1 doctor and 7 candidates.
Thesis: "Diffusion instability and effective diffusion coefficients in some ternary gas mixtures" in the specialty 01.04.14 - thermophysics and molecular physics.

Subject doctoral dissertation: "The diffusion resistance and concentration convection in a three-isothermal gas mixtures" on the specialty 01.04.14- thermal physics and molecular physics.

Published 2 monographs and more than 170 scientific works published in Russia, USA, UK, Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic
