He graduated from school in the town of Shalkar, Aktobe region. In 1977 he graduated with honors from the Abai Kazakh Pedagogical Institute. Later he completed his postgraduate studies in absentia at the institute, defended his thesis in the specialty of Turkic languages, defended his doctoral dissertation in the Kazakh language. He worked as a senior teacher, associate professor, professor at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. Currently he is a professor at the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature named after S. Kirabaev.

Has more than 200 published scientific and educational works.

He is a co-author of 3 collective monographs with foreign scientists.

KosymovaGulbanu is the author of 7 textbooks for higher education: "Fundamentals of public speech." A., 2018. Historical grammar of the Kazakh language. A., 2013. Theoretical foundations of the periodization of the history of language. A., 2015. Etymology of historical names. A., 2018. History of the Kazakh language. A., 2007. Author of the textbooks "Kazakh language" for 5,7 grades and "Kazakh language and literature" for 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 grades and "Methodological manuals" for teachers, written "About the program of updated educational content" .

Under the guidance of GulbanuKosymova, she defended 2 candidates of sciences, 4 doctoral students and received a doctorate in philosophy.
